REPRO v CLASSIC

How many of yall enjoy a good SNES cartridge clicking into your system?

Personally I think it is that little extra touch that gives you a solid authentic experience. It almost makes the game more enjoyable when you KNOW it's a physical case. Is that a crazy concept?

Hell no!

Old systems are so much better when you can re-create the entire experience.

So getting old games can be extremely expensive, especially when you consider which game you're talking about.

I mean, good luck looking up the price for Chrono Trigger, Earthbound and fucking Hagane! I do actually have the real Chrono Trigger and Earthbound below 60 per title which if you've collected at all is impressive on its own. So those would be my crowning items in my SNES collection.

But that brings me to a couple of titles that are very interesting and kind of unique. Reproduction carts, homebrews and even rom hacks!

For those that don't know I'll briefly summarize, Repro carts are basically physical copies of existing games and rom hacks are altered version of games, such as an English translation of a title we never got in the states. Then there's homebrews which range from great and new to really bad.

Three that I have are Secret of Mana 2 (never released in the states and fan translated)

Sonic (A horrible side roller homebrew of Sonic with Bonkers music)

and Castlevania Dracula X Evil Trevor (Which is absolutely the entire original game just with a palette change to look like Trevor)

So with the concept of cartridges in all their forms exposed, not including digital or emulators.

Which do you prefer and would you refuse to play a reproduction?

It would appear everyone ranges from I only play original cartidges and reproduction carts are a sin against mankind.

I've been evolving into a thought process that includes the love of reproduction carts.

Thoughts?
